Home Learning Hub
10th September 2020
We have been building our Home Learning Hub to connect learning between the pupils, school staff and families. In Mary Queen of Peace PS we want learning to be modern and relevant. We also want to prepare for a time (if required in the current circumstances) when the children, classes or the school may have to learn from home.
In P1-3 we have introduced the Seesaw app, which goes live on Monday 14 September to connect home and school. Seesaw is new to our school and we hope you enjoy the very visual and instant benefits of connecting to this app.
From P4 -7 we have been working with the children to get Google Classroom and Accelerated Reader (AR) in place. Both of these platforms have been used in P5-7 previously but we have extended their use to P4 in the current circumstances. AR is up and running and the children are both excited and motivated. We are very proud of their achievements. You can connect to Google Classroom from home and Mrs Gormley (ICT Co-ordinator) has provided a help sheet to take you through this, step by step. Please go ahead and connect to Google Classroom at home.
Mathletics is the next platform to be launched. We want the children to enjoy and be challenged by online maths activities, as well as working on maths if they are unable to come to school. P7 have an additional programme called IXL and we have seen the benefits, over the summer months, of the pupils' work on this platform. We now want to extend the same opportunities to all of the classes, from P1-7. The children are being introduced to Mathletics during the current school week and we will release further details to parents on Monday 14 September.
Exciting times and busy times in MQP.
