As ever, the Online Safety newsletters remain topical, with this month’s edition focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is everywhere right now, and it’s a topic many children and young people are hearing about—and using—online. From smart apps to learning tools and games, AI is becoming part of everyday digital life.

As AI continues to grow, it’s important that children and young people have the skills, knowledge and confidence to make safe and responsible choices when using smart technology. Understanding how AI works, where it appears online, and how to use it wisely can help them stay safe and make the most of the digital world.

Safer Internet Day 2026 will take place on Tuesday 10 February 2026, with celebrations and learning activities focused on the theme:

“Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI.”

Due to the school being closed on Safer Internet Day, pupils in MQP will instead be celebrating Safer Internet Day this week. During this time, teachers will explore with pupils the impact that Artificial Intelligence (AI) can have on their lives. This will include discussions on how AI can be used positively, as well as providing advice and guidance to empower pupils to use AI safely, responsibly, and thoughtfully.
