2020-21 School Year
30th June 2020
This has been a year unlike any other and it is now drawing to a close. The children, their families and the school have been on a journey; and we have come through it together. Just before we finish for the summer, I would like to give you an indication of our aim for reopening the school. The staff in Mary Queen of Peace would very much like to see all the children return to school on a full-time basis. School will reopen this year on 24 August 2020.
Challenges lie ahead and events outside of our control may alter those plans. The return to school will not be easy and in order for all the children to return, for the whole school day, we will need parental support and co-operation. Your children and their education and well-being are at the heart of every decision we make in Mary Queen of Peace.
At the beginning of August I will write to you individually, via e-mail, to indicate the exact starting date for your child. It will take a few days to introduce the children to the new school set up and distancing/hygiene routines. Therefore, we will take different year groups in on different days before the whole school comes back together. Primary 1 will have an induction process specifically for children starting school for the first time.
If you have not already done so please complete the slip sent home with your child's report and photograph or scan it back to dmcauley878@c2kni.net by Friday 3 July 2020. Restarting school arrangements will be issued by email only. We will not be sending information by post.
Please keep logging on to the website for school updates. Opportunities for learning over the summer are also published on the school’s website.
Our very best wishes to you all. We very much look forward to welcoming all the children back to their school.
M Conlon
