Year 2 Castles’ Day
2nd May 2024
No one in Glenravel could sleep soundly last night, as Cargan Castle Day was almost in sight…
Instead of pupils arriving to school in MQP uniforms; we had Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses, Knights and Dragons still sticking to our rules!
The Primary 2s began their day creating and building beautiful castles and characters during play. Whether this was through drawing, constructing with Lego and magnetic tiles, or in role play showing off their wonderful costumes, whilst defending Cargan Castle of course. Our groups then completed a castle themed outdoor PE circuit.
Next, the pupils took part in some art activities including drawing a castle from scratch using their knowledge of barbicans, drawbridges and towers. They went on to play a game of Castle Bingo, where the children were able to show off how knowledgeable they were about castles, whilst trying to win some fun prizes!
Following this, the pupils enjoyed their Castle Day Lunch, which of course had to be finished off with some sweet treats during our mini banquet in the Palace. It’s hard work living or working in a castle you know.
For our finale, our Castles’ Day characters enjoyed a story time in the courtyard garden in the beautiful weather, before saying goodbye to their royal friends for the day.
Enjoy the pictures.
