The Season of Creation
19th October 2020
The Season Of Creation is marked throughout our Christian world from 1 September to 4 October (Feast of St.Francis of Assisi) and celebrates the joy of creation as well as encouraging awareness- raising initiatives to protect the natural environment.
Thanks to Fr Conor and the Parish, the children from Mary Queen of Peace Primary School had the opportunity to take part in the ‘Genesis Walk’ with their families to mark this event.
In school, each class took time to appreciate and be thankful for the beautiful world we live in.
Primary 1- thanked God for their gardens by creating their own beautiful class garden.
Primary 2- made colourful butterflies linked with their Numeracy topic Patterns and discussed how God created the earth and people through the Grow in Love Programme.
Primary 3- drew pictures thanking God for our beautiful world.
Primary 4- thanked God for creating the planets which is linked to their topic The Solar System.
Primary 5- thanked God for the wonderful animals that bring so much joy to their lives. The children posted photographs of their pets and also of their fantastic drawings of animals during their ‘#Draw with Rob’ sessions.
Primary 6- investigated the beauty of God’s creation through studying leaves in the Living Things theme. They took some of the leaves they collected and used them to create Leaf Creatures. They had great fun.
Primary 7- thanked God for creating people. The children in Primary 7 have been reflecting on how unique and special they are through writing a personal autobiography and drawing a symmetrical self portrait linked with their Numeracy topic of Shape and Space. They also learned about St. Francis of Assisi and why he is linked to the Season of Creation.
Please have a look at the pictures below of the class activities and some of the children and their families who visited the ‘Genesis Walk.’
