STEM Challenge 2018
12th April 2018
Our Y7 engineers represented the school at this year's STEM challenge which was the second science competition this month, following on from our school's earlier success in the K'nex competition.
The Challenge
The children were asked to design and build a bridge to cross the Amazon river. The bridge had to span a distance of 30cm and support a weight of 250g.
Our designers worked excellently as a team and put their ideas into action to produce a super model that met the design criteria. Their efforts awarded them 83 points out of a total of 90.
Despite not being placed this year the team were not too disappointed as they knew that they performed to the very best of their ability within the time they were allocated. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we are more than proud of their achievements. The judge spoke highly of our pupils and commented on how well they conducted themselves and worked as a team.
Well done to our three young engineers of the future!
