Pupil of the Month Assembly
29th September 2016
We celebrated our first ever Pupil of the Month Assembly at Mary Queen of Peace Primary School. This was a very special day for our school as we all came together, on the same site, to celebrate being one school.
Mrs Davies’ (Y5) class presented their assembly, about new beginnings, to the whole school and they were greeted with well-earned applause by their school mates. Next up was the awarding of Pupil of the Month certificates to two pupils from each class. The children were presented with specially commissioned and printed Pupil of the Month certificates and envelopes. Photographs of each of the Pupil of the Month winners are now on display, in a dedicated section, on the school’s website’s homepage.
September has of course also been a special time for the club and the captain of the senior team, Ally McKeown, and star player Martin McCarry were also at assembly to show the children their county championship trophy. The pupils loved seeing the trophy and joined in with the excitement. Children from the school, dressed in club colours, also unveiled a special banner produced by Mary Queen of Peace PS to show their support for Con Magees. We shall display it on the Martinstown site so that everyone can see it on the way to Omagh to beat the Tyrone champions.
After assembly we all went to the Martinstown site for a special fruit break and shared playtime, before the infants returned to Cargan. What a day for our school!
Pupil of the Month assemblies will take place on the last Thursday of each month and the certificates, transports and treats are financed through a successful application to the Big Lottery’s Celebrate fund.
