Prize Day 2018
25th June 2018
Prize Day 2018 was a wonderful celebration of the children’s achievements. We gathered as a community to celebrate everything that is good about Mary Queen of Peace Primary School.
Medals for Sports Day were presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams in the junior and senior sections; as well as participation medals to all of the boys and girls who took part in Sports Day. The school also presented, for the first time, 100% attendance certificates.
During the ceremony we had an opportunity to listen to the children’s singing, piano playing and poetry recital. Music is an important part of school life, we have a choir and the children are also coached in singing, piano and violin throughout the year. Many of the children have won awards at competitions as well as certificates for obtaining grades, in their respective fields. This was also a year when the school collected, once again, the best Primary School Award at the Ballymena Speech & Language Festival.
The sporting success of 2017-18 were celebrated, including indoor and outdoor SW Antrim hurling championship tournaments wins. We also retained the Causeway & District Girls' Cross-Country trophy, as well as coming 6th in the NI Primary Schools' Girls’ Final.
The school is also very successful in quizzes and once again, under Mr Magee’s guidance, we enjoyed victories in the Credit Union and Cumann na mBunscol competitions at local, regional, provincial and national level. Another outstanding year and congratulations to everyone who took park.
For the first time individual awards were introduced into Mary Queen of Peace’s Prize Day with presentations for Sports Boy and Girl; Friendship Awards in the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1; Contribution to School Life; Endeavour Award in Key Stage 1; Accelerated Reader and Creative Award. Congratulations to the boys and girls who collected their well-earned prizes and thank you to our sponsors for the donation of trophies/shields.
It has been a successful second year for our new school and we are proud of all our pupils.
