Numicon in MQP

In Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 our children have been exploring a range of mathematical concepts using Numicon. Numicon is an effective learning tool used in numeracy and play lessons for all children.
Numicon is designed to develop a sound understanding of number, the relationship between numbers, digits and place value using structured apparatus. Numicon helps children reason mathematically through the use of concrete objects and spoken language.
Our Y1 and Y2 children have been using Numicon to develop their number sense and knowledge of skills like ordering, counting, adding and subtracting.
Our Y3 and Y4 children have been using Numicon to investigate and explore number bonds, multiplication and division strategies.
Our children in MQP enjoy using numicon as it is visual, fun, creative and a practical resource for all learners.
