January 2022 Online Safety Newsletter

6th January 2022

In this month's newsletter, I have picked out just a few topics that you might find useful in light off any 'new tech' or games that your children may have acquired since Christmas.

Family Pairing on Tiktok

This allows parents to link their own TikTok account to their child’s account. This will allow you to set controls such as restricted mode (limit the appearance of inappropriate content) and screen time management (control how long they can spend on TikTok each day). You can find out more here: https://www.tiktok.com/safety/en/guardians-guide/

Parental Controls for Fortnite

Fortnite includes several parental controls to help you make it a safer environment for your child including disabling voice chat, filtering language and setting privacy settings. Find out more about parental controls here: https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/en-US/parental-controls.

LEGO Build and Talk

LEGO® have created Build and Talk to help you chat to your child about digital safety and wellbeing. Firstly, you pick an activity to do and then you read a story, which includes questions and conversation prompts, whilst they build with their LEGO®. This is a great way to start talking about online safety with your child!

Please read the attached newsletter to find out more about how we can keep our children safe online.
