Indoor Camogie Champions!
19th January 2023
On a day more suited to ice hockey than camogie, the Mary Queen of Peace girls headed to the Cumann na mBunscol competition in the Antrim Forum, inspired by the recent visit of the Brídíní Óga All-Ireland team to the school. Just like the senior camogs, the MQP girls won their competition, after a thrilling final.
In the group stages the camogie team played ten games: winning eight, drawing one and losing to Mount St. Michael’s PS (2 v 0). The girls qualified in second place from the group stages, before going on to beat Creggan in the semi-final. The last match of the day saw the Glenravel girls come up against Mount St. Michael’s PS in the final, the only team to have beaten them. Unlike the group stage game, the girls saved their best performance for the final with Mary Queen of Peace PS triumphant, on a score line of 4 v 2.
Thank-you to Mrs McAlister and Team MQP Parents. Well done everyone!
The future for camogie is bright in Glenravel with Brídíní Óga and MQP performing so well. Just like the senior girls, the MQP camogie team now progress to an Ulster competition.
