Hurling
19th May 2022
Our hurling team completed the primary schools' GAA season with a super performance in the Cumann na mBunscol SW Antrim Championship. The tournament, staged in Tír na nÓg (Randalstown), saw a lot of fine hurling and our boys did exceptionally well, going on to win the shield competition.
MQP were drawn in the toughest of groups and over the group stages they began to find their form and finished the morning session strongly. A shield semi-final win over Moneynick PS was followed by a final against Millquarter PS. The boys had beaten Millquarter in the group stages but the final would prove to be a much closer competition. Eventually, after two periods of extra time and with the last score of the game, the MQP boys were able to celebrate a well-deserved win.
Well done to every boy in the team who played their part in ensuring the shield went to Glenravel. Thank-you to Mrs McAlister for preparing the team and to our parents for their support on the day.
It has been a few years since we last won a trophy and a few fine hurlers, camogs and footballer never got the chance to represent the school because of Covid. This was an important year for Gaelic games in primary schools, with the relaunch of competitions. Thank-you to Cumann na mBunscol for all their work in promoting GAA in the county. We were delighted to be able compete and share a little bit of success with the Glenravel community.
Well done everyone.
