Year 7 Cumann na mBunscol South West Indoor Football Blitz
On Thursday the 28 th of November our Year 7 girls’ Gaelic team headed to the Antrim Forum for the Cumann na mBunscol South West Indoor Football Blitz. There were fifteen teams participating on the day (the highest ever entry for the competition!). The girls played against St Joseph’s (Crumlin), Millquarter, St Brigid’s (Ballymena), Mount St Micheal’s (Randalstown), St Colmcille’s (Ballymena), Ballymacricket PS and St Comgall’s (Antrim).
The girls began the day with a superb win against St Joseph’s (3-0). This was followed by a draw with Millquarter (2-2). Next up were two tough matches against strong St Brigid’s and Mount St Micheal’s teams, resulting in defeats in both games. However, the girls were not disheartened and went on to draw their next match with St Colmcille’s and followed this with a win in their second last match of the day, with a brilliant display against Ballymackricket.
The effort put in by the whole team at training sessions and on the day of the blitz was admirable and all the girls should be very proud of themselves. They were fantastic representatives for the school and above all - we had a great day out!
