Farewell to Mrs McConway
25th October 2019
The pupils, parents, governors and staff welcomed Mrs McConway back to the school, for one last time, to thank her for everything she did to help establish Mary Queen of Peace PS.
Mrs McConway has now taken up the position of principal of Moneynick PS, so she is going to miss out on everything that was due to happen in our school this year. Well that is what she thought, because the boys and girls had other things on their mind! They wanted Mrs McConway to experience the whole school year in one afternoon. So that meant squeezing in (amongst other things) Hallowe’en, the Transfer Test, Maths Week, Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day - even though it is still only October! Mrs McConway’s final class in the school (Y2) were joined by their friends in Y1, and together they performed actions for a specially composed Mrs McConway Song. Everyone loved it. The infant classes finished by presenting Mrs McConway with a Journey to Moneynick PS framed piece of art and Mrs McConway’s Y2 class presented their Book of Thoughts to their teacher.
Mrs McConway’s contribution to the school has been magnificent as a teacher (Y2 and Y7) and as a vice-principal where she led the school in: the development of mathematics, safeguarding, shared education, parent & community links and fundraising.
To thank her for all of this work, the children presented Mrs McConway with gifts on behalf of their parents. While the governors, staff and PTA also marked the occasion with gifts too.
Our tribute assembly to Mrs McConway concluded with a whole school song - Money, Money, Moneynick!!!
Mrs McConway best wishes to you, your family and your new school. Thank-you from everyone in MQP.
