Cumann na mBunscol Indoor Hurling
16th January 2025
Our hurlers took part in the Cumann na mBunscol Indoor Hurling Competition in the Antrim Forum on 16 January 2025.
Ten different schools battled it out in the group stages to see if they would compete in the cup or shield section of the finals.
Our hard-working boys drew their first two group stage matches against Moneynick PS and St. Brigid’s PS, Ballymena. They lost their third group game 2 goals to 1 to eventual cup winners St. Patrick’s PS, Rasharkin. Our final group game was against Millquarter PS and we ran out comfortable winners in that game.
When the points were added up, we were third in our group and faced St. Mary’s PS ,Portglenone in the cup quarter final. It was an excellent game of hurling and it took extra time to separate the sides. Mary Queen of Peace came out on top, winning by 3 goals to 1 in the end.
On we went to the semi-final where Mount St. Michael’s PS lay in wait. The semi-final was another hard-fought contest and our players battled on until the very end. Unfortunately, it was not to be and that was the end of the road for us in this competition as we were beaten by 2 goals.
The effort, work rate and behaviour of the boys was exemplary all day and we are very proud of how they all performed. They are all excellent hurlers in the making.
Thank-you to Mrs McAlister and Tara for not only taking the team but organising the competition for Cumann na mBunscol.
