Cumann na mBunscol Indoor Camogie
23rd January 2025
Today it was the turn of our girls to participate in the Cumann na mBunscol Indoor Camogie competition.
Twelve schools entered the competition this year, so we knew it was going to be keenly contested. MQP faced five teams in the group stage matches. First up were St Mary’s PS, Portglenone. This was a very tight game and ended in a fair draw. We then faced St Brigid’s PS, Ballymena in a great game of camogie. Our girls ended up winners by a single goal. St Joseph’s PS, Crumlin was the next opposition, and we came out as winners in that game too. St Oliver Plunkett’s PS was next up and again, victory went to the girls from Glenravel. Our last group stage game was against Millquarter PS, who really put it up to our girls, and the game ended in a draw.
This run of undefeated games led us to a Cup competition quarter final against Mount Saint Michael’s PS, Randalstown. Again, this was a great game of camogie and the girls all battled very hard. We won that game and moved on to play St Oliver Plunkett’s PS in the semi-final. Our girls battled hard again and won the semi-final. We were into the Cup final for the third year in a row and again our opposition was St Mary’s PS, Portglenone.
The final was a very tough encounter for the girls who gave everything they had and fought right to the end of the game. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for the girls from MQP, this time. Portglenone came out as victors.
I couldn’t be prouder of the effort put in by all the players today, who fought for every ball and gave everything they had to give. They are great ambassadors for our school and community.
