Cumann na mBunscol Boys' Football Indoor
15th January 2026
Our boys' football team had a successful outing in Antrim Forum today, coming home with a trophy after a riveting encounter in the Shield Final against St Comgall's, Antrim.
We performed well in the group stages getting one win, two draws and two losses (pipped at the post by a single goal each time). Despite the disappointment of not making the Cup Competition, our boys took great heart in knowing that they could beat the top teams on another day.
In the Shield Quarter Final we beat St Paul's Ahoghill/Millquarter PS to make it to the semi finals where we faced St Joseph's, Crumlin. Our boys stuck to the task and got the win. In the Shield Final, St Comgall's of Antrim were our opponents. After going a goal down right from the start, we had an uphill battle. Thankfully we managed to get two goals ourselves in quick succession. St Comgall's finished strong and levelled the game just on the blow of the final whistle. Extra time of three minutes was required to separate the teams. Well our boys were not going to let this opportunity slip away and took the game by the scruff of the neck, bagging goals in the first minute. St Comgall's did come back with goals of their own but we held out to win by one goal at the long whistle.
I am delighted for these boys who I was very proud of all day. They showed great guts, determination, strength, skill and sportsmanship throughout the day
Well done boys.
Mrs Duffin
