Cross-Country Race III
23rd January 2018
Race III of Athletics NI’s Causeway Coast Competition took place at the Roe Valley LC (Limavady). MQP had runners in the individual race as well as the boys’ team and girls’ team races.
The girls’ team went into the race in second place in the competition and eager to retain the title they won last year. It was quite a battle but the girls finished joint first in Race III and overall they won the entire competition; having come in 1st, 2nd and then 1st in the three race tournament. Well done everyone. We are so proud of you! Mary Queen of Peace champions in 2016-17 and 2017-18 (Glenravel PS also won in 2015-16).
The girls will now go on to represent the district as champions at the national finals (Wednesday 21 February, Mallusk Playing Fields).

After a period of injuries and sickness before Christmas, the boys were also glad to be back racing and keen to improve on their performance in Race II, which they did by coming in 5th in Race III in Limavady. With two 5th places finishes in the competition, Mary Queen of Peace were placed 5th overall in the Causeway Coast Competition.
We also had a boy who qualified from the district to take part in the national boys’ final. Congratulations, this is a quite an achievement.

Congratulations to our runners in the individual race, who came in second and third! A fantastic performance boys.
Once again thank-you to our parents who turned out in such fantastic numbers to support the children (including a fair bit of coaching).
