CPR Training for Year 7
16th December 2024
A BIG thank you to Bernie McKenna, for taking the time to visit our classroom today and share her extensive knowledge about life-saving techniques, CPR, and the vital role of the first responders in our local area.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and were fascinated by the valuable skills and stories that Bernie had to share with them.
Here is what the children had to say:
"I will always remember this CPR training and I liked when we got to try it too." Jamie
"I will remember what Bernie told us to do when you see someone who has collasped. It was really good." Aoibhe
"An interesting thing that I learned was what to do when someone faints." Aidan
"I found out how to do CPR. I found it quite easy and it was cool to use the Little Annie dolls. I learned not to give babies chest compressions." Kayla
"If someone is unconscious, DO NOT PANIC! Check if they are breathing by listening to them and if they are not breathing call 999!" Maria
"I found it interesting to know how to save someone in an emergency!" Oscar
"The CPR training was very fun and I hope I don't have to use it. But if I do I know I will be able to." Ava
"Today I learned that if someone has collasped you shake them gently and check to see if they are breathing." Siofra
"It was fun and interesting and I really liked using the dummies." Aaron
"I learned how to do CPR and what to do if someone takes a heart attack. I liked it and learned a lot." Jude
" I loved learning about CPR." Michael
"I learned how important it is to look for dangers that might be around and how to do chest compressions." Erin
"I thought it was cool learning about CPR." Katie
"I was really interested in what Bernie had to say about the symptoms of a heart attack and when she showed us how to use a defibrillator." Grace
"I hope I always remember what the recovery position is. I now know how to do CPR and to stay calm." Aron
"I thought it was a great experience and good that I now know what to do if someone takes a heart attack." Callum
"I know how to do CPR and I loved using the dummy." Ella Rose
" Bernie taught us about CPR and she told us all the ways to help someone who is having a heart attack or a cardiac arrest. I loved this day and it helped me so much." Lara
Berne's visit was very educational and we were very grateful for the opportunity. Hopefully Bernie has inspired one or two children to consider a job in the medical field!
Thank you to Glenravel First Responders for sponsoring the training session.
