County Champions
21st June 2017
Congratulations to our girls on winning the County Antrim Primary Schools’ Girls’ Football Championship. In a very tight contest the girls came out on top following a terrific contest with St. John the Baptist PS, Belfast. We are so proud of their achievement and what a wonderful way to finish primary school for many members of this very special team.
The girls were not the only team on show, as we also had our boys’ hurling team taking part in the county semi-final, eventually going down to St. Patrick’s PS, Glenariffe (who went on to win the county title).
Later in the day it was the girls who were back in action, this time in the Cumann na mBunscol county camogie final (having qualified as SW Antrim champions). We lost out to St. Patrick’s & St. Brigid’s PS, Ballycastle but given that this was our second county final in a day, we still put up a terrific performance.
A great deal of work has gone into preparing the teams throughout the year so well done to everyone at home and in school who helped develop the children’s sporting talents.
We had one very talented girl who was not able to make the finals because of illness but we know she will be in very many finals to come in the future. Get well soon.
A proud moment for our new school and this sporting parish.
