Celebrating Grandparents' Day in MQP
30th January 2026
Today, the Mary Queen of Peace Primary School community came together to celebrate Grandparents’ Day, a truly special occasion to give thanks for the love, guidance and faith that grandparents share so generously with our children.
Grandparents hold a treasured place in family life. Through their kindness, encouragement, prayer and care, they help shape our children’s values and provide a steady, reassuring presence.
As a Catholic school, we recognise the important role grandparents play in passing on faith, helping children to understand the power of prayer, the importance of gratitude and the joy of living with compassion. Today was a beautiful reminder of the strong bonds between home, school and parish and the strength of the community we share.
A special word of thanks to our pupils who contributed so meaningfully to the celebration. Thank you to the Primary 4 children, who performed a beautiful tableau retelling the story of St. Brigid, and to our Primary 5 pupils, who led the Bidding Prayers with reverence and confidence.
We would also like to say a huge well done to all Primary 1–7 pupils, who created beautiful artwork for our grandparents, proudly displayed in the Parish Hall. The care and creativity shown in each piece was a wonderful tribute and it was a joy to see the hall brightened by the children’s thoughtful work.
A sincere thank you to our PTA, who kindly provided refreshments for our grandparents, helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere and giving everyone a chance to chat and enjoy the occasion together.
Thank you to Father Paul for celebrating such a beautiful Mass, making the day all the more prayerful and meaningful for our school community.
We also took a moment to remember with love and gratitude those grandparents who could not be with us today and especially those who have gone before us and are now in heaven—always in our prayers and forever in our hearts.
A heartfelt thank you to all grandparents and family members who joined us—and to all grandparents everywhere—for everything you do. Your love is a blessing, and your influence is felt every day in the lives of our children.
Happy Grandparents’ Day from everyone at Mary Queen of Peace Primary School!
