Ballymena Festival
2nd March 2017
The Ballymena Festival has now finished and we won Best Primary School in the Speech & Drama section. For the past two weeks we had children competing in the dance, choir and speech & drama categories. Our children did themselves, their families, their school and Glenravel proud.
We had early success in both the dancing and speech & drama sections. Well done everyone, including our Foundation Stage (Y1-2) pupils who were making their first public performance. It was also their first time representing MQP and definitely not their last!
The boys and girls'up the school' then got their chance and they too did really well. Our school is a new school, so quite a number of others schools had not heard of Mary Queen of Peace PS, Glenravel. It really was quite an honour to be awarded Best Primary School, in this our first year, as a newly amalgamated school.
The choir also entered its first public competition and came in third! Everyone was thrilled at school and our coaches were delighted (Miss Rodgers and Mrs McNeill). There were also a large number of compliments about how well the children were looking in their new uniform.
Thank-you to everyone in school and at home who did so much to prepare the children. In particular we would like to thank Mrs Claire McAleenan, who came back to the school to lead the festival work.
More photographs to follow later in the week.
