Anti-Bullying Week 2025 in MQP

14th November 2025

This week in Mary Queen of Peace, our children have been very busy learning about the importance of using their Power for Good to speak out, support others and build a world where kindness wins.

Here's what we all got up to...

Primary 1 have been busy thinking all about the ways we can be kind to each other. We made a friendship bookmark and in Circle Time, we passed a heart to our friends with our pegs, telling each other something we love about them.

In Primary 2 we have been celebrating Anti-Bullying Week by learning all about the importance of being kind. We shared the story of ‘The Gruffalo’ and discovered that even the Gruffalo and the little mouse could become friends when they chose to show kindness. They reminded us that our words and actions can make others feel safe, happy and included. This week and every week, we’re remembering to ‘be a buddy, not a bully’ and to spread kindness wherever we go.

The Primary 3 children watched the BBC Live Lesson on the anti-bullying theme, The Power of Good. They designed their own mis-matched socks to represent that everyone is unique, special and different.

We became top secret agents learning about what powers we could use to stop bullying and spread kindness. We then designed an anti-bullying pledge badge and finished the week off by spreading a little kindness and love by thanking all the adults on the Cargan site by giving them a little sweet treat.

Primary 4 worked on how we could use our power of good to help others. We listened to a poem telling us that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. We then each decided what we could do, on our own, to use our power of good.

The Primary 5 children have really enjoyed a variety of activities this week to celebrate Anti-bullying Week beginning with Odd Socks Day, where they designed their own odd socks and discussed what makes us the same and what makes us different. The children took the opportunity during the week to discuss who our trusted adults are and the importance of feeling empowered to use our voice and our kindness.
MQP pupils worked collaboratively with our Shared Education friends in Camphill PS, engaging in anti-bullying role play scenarios. Primary 5 from both schools also designed their own Power for Good posters and sang the Power for Good song together.

In Primary 6 this week we started with Odd Socks Day and talked about how we are all different and how we are all the same. We took part in several activities, including watched a PowerPoint presentation about being a Power for Good, where we looked at different scenarios involving unkind and bullying and what we should do. Primary 6 also had a Circle Time about how we could make our classroom a bully free zone and then designed posters for display. We were very busy this week!

Primary 7 used roleplay to explore various scenarios of bullying and the different parts that people play in bullying e.g. the target, the ringleader, the assistants, the defender, the by standers. We used 'FREEZE FRAMES' to identify these roles and thought about ways in which we could positively use our POWER of speech or action to encourage kindness, support and stand up for others.

Wow! Well done boys and girls. It sounds like bullying behaviours won't stand a chance in MQP!
