Anti-Bullying Week
19th November 2018
The theme for this year's Anti-Bullying Week was RESPECT.
Every class in the school took part in activities.
We start our round up in Cargan where the P1s made friendship book marks after reading their Grumpy Goats book. They identified 4 things you need to be a good friend. A good friend helps, shares, plays fairly and uses kind words. Primary 2 watched The Bullying Billy Goats and discussed the qualities of being a good friend and how we show respect to others. Our P2 pupils made a friendship bracelet for a friend.
P3 watched two clips from Matilda showing how Miss Trunchbull and Miss Honey treated the children and other adults. The children worked in groups contrasting the behaviour of the two teachers. They then designed their posters promoting RESPECT.
In Primary 4 the word R-E-S-P-E-C-T was introduced through music and song. The children looked at what the word RESPECT means and what things we can do to show respect. Together they drew up an Anti-Bullying pledge and gave it a 'yellow hand' seal of approval and a promise to show respect to all those around us.
The P5 class discussed what bullying meant to them, how you could spot the signs of bulling and what you could do to stop it happening. They discussed how important respect is and the P5 class created a display to show how respect grows. Year 5 also made Anti-Bullying badges and in groups performed a role-play on a bullying scenario and how it was resolved. Primary 5 understand that we should Give Respect to Get Respect.
In P6 the children were looking out for respectful behaviour in the school and writing what they saw on post-its, which were read out at the end of the week. The children then made up an acrostic poem using the word respect, which the children are showing in their photograph.
Primary 7 took the theme of how they can grow respect (P7 wrote their ideas on their tulip flowers) and if they show respect how this will be seen in our school, which they recorded on their class rainbow.
Earlier in the week Odd Socks' Day was a visual representation of individual support for anti-bullying throughout our school.
We very much enjoyed the week.
