Safer Internet Day in MQP

11th February 2022

The theme of this year's SID was,

All Fun and Games?

Exploring respect and relationships online.

The children in MQP engaged in a range of activities this week to find different ways they can have fun and respect when gaming or chatting online and identify rules that help to keep them safe when using their devices at home.

In the Foundation Stage, Smartie the Penguin told the children how to keep safe online. They all enjoyed singing the the rule from mummy Penguin, "Before you tap and click, you need to stop and think and tell someone." The children also identified different KIND and UNKIND actions that could be used both online and offline.

In KS1 the pupils talked how important it was to keep their 'personal information' private and identified the trusted adults in their lives.

In KS2, the pupils discussed how they can use avatars and usernames to express themselves online whilst still protecting their personal information and investigated healthy and unhealthy behaviours online. Some pupils created short iMovies which delivered key messages about being your 'BEST SELF' online. They also made some Online Safety fortune tellers to test out their friends and see if they really were INTERNET READY!

We will continue to work together to make the internet a safe and happy place for all!

Well done everyone.
